Part of our Next Generation Aviation Professional Training Programme, AGL5 is a 3-day Airfield Lighting Control Monitoring Systems (ALCMS) and Individual Lamp Control and Monitoring Systems (ILCMS) systems training course.
AGL5 – ALCMS is targeted towards personnel who are involved in the specification, design, operation, and maintenance of AGL Control Systems. The course includes classroom sessions and where possible onsite practical sessions will also be included in the programme.
AGL5 is part of ATC ICAO Next Generation Aviation Professional development programme.
Our trainers will teach the best practices to help delegates possess a solid understanding of airfield lighting control and monitoring system design techniques, protocols, and regulations to operate, install and maintain resilient and reliable systems.

- ALCMS Safety Case and Airport Safety Case considerations
- Types of ALCMS systems and equipment used.
- General ALCMS Architecture and Design
- Resilience in ALCMS systems
- HMI’s, Main and Local Controllers
- Communication Medium and types of protocols (Modbus, Profibus, TCP-IP, Profinet)
- ALCMS maintenance and support
- Introduction to ILCMS
- ILCMS Architecture, Design and Technical constraints
- ILCMS definitions and available technologies
- Introduction to Cyber Security and steps to be taken with ALCMS
- New ALCMS / ILCMS technology trending 2021/2022>>.
- Human Factors Training – Air traffic Controllers Only
Practical Sessions
Where possible, courses conducted on a client’s site will have visits to view the ALCMS equipment incorporated into the course program. This will further re-enforce the teaching in the classroom sessions with the ability to visualise the equipment being discussed.
Having successfully completed all the modules for AGL5 delegates will receive an Airfield Training Company ‘ICAO ALCMS / ILCMS – NGAP Competency (AGL5)’ Certification.
